THE MUSEUM
OF ART

BY HECUBUS

I lived in North Carolina for fifteen years, and in that time, I probably visited the North Carolina Museum of Art a hundred times. I was - and still am - captivated by many of the works in their permanent collection, and I found the general shape of the building to be quite unique. In the 1990s, they built an outdoor theater with architectural elements spelling out the words "Picture This", which are visible when flying in and out of Raleigh-Durham International Airport. I couldn't recreate that, but I could pay homage in shrubbery!

This lot - and the art collection included - is my homage to this wonderful museum. While the layout is not faithful to the original (a combination of lack of floor plans and build mode restrictions), it is reminiscent, and anyone who's been there will say "oh yeah."

The lot features four permanent collections - Antiquities, American Gallery, European Masters, and 20th Century art. It also features a special exhibition - this time of Francoise Neilly portraits (mostly because I already have this collection for download on the stuff page)  but I may release other special collections if there is any interest. The lot also has a gift shop, an outdoor coffee bistro, and the Blue Ridge Cafe.

Most of the art are favorites of mine from the NC Museum - or at leat those I have been fascinated by; many of the antiquties are from Dincer Hepulger, and one of the outdoor sculptures is featured in the Fallingwater Collection by Stonetower (MTS2). All NC Museum pieces have an information placard next to them. Also included is a sculpture specially made for this lot by Paleoanth, a recreation of the Blue Dancer. Many thanks to her for this great piece!

I hope you enjoy the lot - and the art. Below are more images of the lot, as well as images of all the artwork recreated for this collection.
