I'd definitely say they'd be worth downloading without the layering. Also the sorta transparency is really only noticeable up close and even then really only on certain textures like those bricks in the last picture. From a distance it just looks faded which is perfectly fine. I'd download them in a heart beat and gleefully re-download them if they ever cooperated and let you make them layerable. :D
