Dragon Age - Death

Someone over on My Sims 3 Blog mentioned something about making a mohawk that wasn't falling over, and somehow that translated into me making the following set of hairs. Maybe it's just me, but there does seem to be a lack of 'non-mainstream' type clothing and hair for TS3...

At any rate, tonight I made 4.75 new hairs.

First up is an almost-straight conversion of the TS3 male mohawk for females. I really, really like the mesh for this, and simply fitted it to a female head and gave it a new texture (by the very-missed Liegen)..

Then, I thought 'Oh... it'd be nice to make this a bit shorter!' And so I did.

After that, I knew it had to be done for males as well.

Things started to get more involved after the straight conversion, and I took on creating a 'Chelsea' style for the girls. I hacked the hell out of a Raon mesh for this.

So what's the .75 hair all about? Well... apparently WesH's plugins still occasionally want to mess with me.

I'm going to attempt to recreate this entirely from scratch again tomorrow. It looks really good in milkshape.

And now for something completely different...

I'm also working on some new jeans for the boys in a cuffed style.

There's some baaaaaad uv mapping happening at the waist, but otherwise, I'm quite pleased with how these have turned out.

The hairs look nice - I especially like the short mohawk.

Eeeeeeee! for the jeans. Boys need more jeans.

(Dragon Age eating my brain. Sleep is overrated.)

Yep, got it today. Just had a moment of "I should probably go to bed, it's probably past ten, or something - oh crap, it's one in the morning!"

Finally just had the willpower to shut the game down. At least I don't have to go in to work tomorrow - I'm boycotting the place until they get the toilets fixed.

DA Jacob sounds rather scary. But in a fun way.

Falling over now.

I love the shorter version of the mohawk, it looks awesome!

The new jeans are coming along very nicely! All your stuff is really terrific! (Looking forward to seeing what else you come up with.)

Thanks! I thought it'd be nice to have a little variety. :D

I love the Chelsea. And those jeans! They're fantastic. I can't wait. Btw it isn't just you. EA is no where near edgy enough to include off the beaten track items for sims and the custom content community, though growing, is still fairly small. Unfortunately, I have more ideas than I do meshing skills. Once I get beyond the slow start I find myself in I hope to dedicate an entire line to this genre alone. Thank Gawd for people like you who are both a source for those of us who love this look as well as an inspiration to those of us who hope to create. I would have lost interest in this game a long time had it not been for people like you who keep it fresh and interesting.

TS3 - Jacob - Dancing Cats
Aww! Thank you so much!

Yeah, there really aren't a whole lot of people making CC for this game yet, and those that do seem to have more of an 'every day' or even 'runway' style to them. It is a bit more involved to make CC for this game as compared to TS2, but it's not so complicated that it's not fun anymore. Just keep working at it, and I'm sure you'll be able to make stuff, too! We definitely need more people creating different styles. :D

I love these hairs - and I'm thrilled someone would even think to make a Chelsea :-) Thank you.

Very welcome!
7th-Jan-2010 11:36 pm (UTC) - love these!
the mohawks are stellar... esp. the short ones! I can't believe you did it all in one night...

the issue with the chelsea looks like a mapping rather than a mesh issue, doesn't it? i took a look at that mesh yesterday, thinking of making a mini mohawk for kids/toddlers... i'm no expert, but if you'd like anyone to look at it or test, i'd be happy to. :)

Well the short mohawks were just a simple alpha edit, really, so those didn't take more than a few minutes, and the male to female mohawk didn't take much mesh editing at all. The 'Chelsea' style was the most involved.

And yeah, it's definitely a uv mapping issue on the non-working style. Sometimes for some reason WesH's plugins don't export the uv map correctly, though I haven't come across the problem in quite a while until now. (In fact, I thought the problem had been fixed with a plugin update.) At any rate, I'm just going to try redoing the mesh and hope for the best.

A mini-mohawk would be so cute!! You should seriously make one.

I adore the mohawks! Can't wait to use them. And the pants are looking great. ;)

And is Liegen gone?

Liegen's not really 'gone' as such, but I miss her creations, especially anything new she could make for TS3. Er... did that make sense?

never let this go
Oh, okay. I was worried for a bit; I think last year was hard on her (at least to my knowledge and I could have misread things). I'm glad she's still around and I do wish she could make things for TS3; as that would be even more awesome. ^_^

Thanks so much!

I actually haven't had a chance to work on that last hair much this week, but I should have another stab at it eventually. :D
