I have a few things to get off my chest, but I'll start with the download that I'd managed to completely fuck up yesterday. (No, shockingly it wasn't actually supposed to show up as a totally different mesh!)
We all need more male hair, right? And 'normal' male hairs are few and far between, right? So... here's one. I did a version of this for TS2 originally, in as much as I retextured the TS2 K&B hair, so I decided to convert it.
Control channels. Extreme colors are known to cause 'crunchiness;' this shot is just a way to clearly show all four channels. This is for Teen, Young Adult, Adult, and Elder Males. It looked goofy on females, and I don't much feel like putting the effort into reshaping the mesh for them.
DOWNLOADStandard CC TOU apply, so do whatever the hell you want with this as long as you keep it off paysites. As I spitting splitting blood red breaking windows in my heart.
+++An Open Letter to the People on My Sims 3 Blog:
I'm a regular visitor to My Sims 3 Blog simply because it's a one stop, easy way to find the large amount of new downloads that get posted throughout the community every day. Among many things, the organization of their finds and links is pretty hard to beat.
However, one thing I'm finding as a pretty large mark against them is the type of comments that get made on almost every find. Interestingly enough, I'd written up a huge rant about this just a few days ago, but decided to forego posting it because by the time I was done, it struck me as really pointless to bother with.
Then, as I was visiting the site at random yesterday I noticed an unusually large number of comments about this particular upload of mine.
Before I really get into this, I'd like to thank the few of you who had legitimate concerns about the original textures on this mesh and expressed them in a constructive, concise way. I actually learned something because of this, which is why I've always been open about feedback.
To the others who would rather describe things as looking 'like shit,' I highly doubt anything I say will change your behavior, but you don't sound 'edgy' or 'hard core' or whatever the hell you seem to think you sound like; you just sound like a bored twelve year old with nothing better to do. Maybe you are.
Of course, given how much this community thrives on 'drama,' I don't suppose I'm really all that surprised by any of what I see over there. And no, I'm not 'butthurt' (I can't fucking stand that term). Believe me, I wouldn't still be involved in making CC after all this time if I couldn't handle reading about people who don't like something I made.
I sure as hell don't think creators need to be worshipped for everything they do; I think everyone can benefit from constructive feedback. I just see no point in furtively bitching about things people didn't even have to upload in the first place. Pointless, derogatory comments don't help anyone, unless your goal is to not have custom content. If you think someone's work is lacking, express exactly what you have a problem with, instead of 'This sucks.'
If you have any sort of issue with anything I or Gelydh make, don't be afraid to come to either one of us and say so! If you think creation X could be better if we did Y, we won't bite your head off for mentioning it. We may not agree, or even be able to do anything about it, but feedback is and has always been appreciated.
For the record, the original textures on this mesh weren't nearly as blurry as they appeared on MS3B. TS3 textures will almost
always be more blurry than their TS2 counterparts; that's just the nature of the beast. I redid the textures on this last night, and they're as good as they're going to get at this point. They are
exactly the same textures I used in the
original TS2 version. For those who prefer a more Maxis-Match look, I did very little changing to the uv map, so you can very easily put the original texture on it if you wish.
tl:dr - For those who can give feedback without using words like 'shit' and 'ass,' thank you! The rest of you aren't doing yourselves any favors.
